Freedom fron the Demonic

Freedom from the demonic influences in our lives is a manditory commissioning of the cross. Jesus died and rose again from death making an open display to all principalities and powers of His victory on our behalf. The appropriation of all that that victory entails and provides is our responsibility. Ignorance and believing the lies of our enemies are the only real weapons against us and no matter how much you believe a lie it will never make it the truth. Jesus has triumphed mightily and so decisively that all Satan's power lies only in deception. He wants the believer to think that he is helpless against his onslaughts. In the deliverance ministry I have dealt with so many individuals who were in such supposed bondage that they could not function on a day to day basis. The sad thing is that many ministers and ministries thrive on the ignorance of the believer...if they can be called a believer. The truth is they are not really a believer because they are not believing the truths that are theirs in Christ. Satan becomes elevated to some superpower status thus making the average Christian impotent and just 'average'. In the long run the 'Body of Christ' suffers defeat at the hand of a powerless foe. Ultimately we are victorious because "the gates (counsels and schemes) of hell (hosts of enemies in the spiritual realm) will not prevail" against Jesus building His Church. It's the material that He has to work with that is at issue here. If you build a house with poor lumber, no matter how skilled the carpenters are, the end result is a house built with poor lumber...no matter how attractive it may seem on the outside. Paul put it this way in his epistle to the church at Ephesus..."I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all" (Ephesians 1:18-23). Jesus is the head of His body and His body is the church. If these things be so...and they are, then we can only surmise that the reason we see so much bondage and oppression in the church today is either due to ignoance on our part...or we are just not believing-believers. Jesus has done it all...all that remains for us to do is believe and apply the truth of victory to all the circumstances that we find ourselves in. Excluding the discipline of the Lord and disobedience on our part we could and indeed, we should be walking in victory over demonic and satanic influences from moment to moment. The risings and troublings of the flesh are another matter altogether. We will address that problem in another writing. Freedom is our birthright..."It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery (bondage)'...to the law or to any other thing or person. Having said all this, I do not want to give you the impression that it is all up to us to attain to some kind of utopian 'victory status'. It is a truth that we are..."more than conquerors through Him who loved us and gave Himself for us"...but it is not merely the proclamation of God's truth that is needed today; it is the releasing into the human life the risen Christ to whom that truth points. Jesus is our victory...only as we believe and allow Him to live His victorious life in and through us. It is the application of truth that makes us free; not the mere acquisition of it (John 8:31-32). Satan is a defeated foe, with a crushed head. There is no power in him, nor are there any means available to him to reach and unseat the Victor of Calvary now seated at the right hand of the Father. This is one fact that we need to keep strengthening ourselves with. And there is another: All the things that God did for the Head , He did for the Body also. This means that positionally we are in the heavenlies in our Head. Our strengthening in the Lord is achieved as we reckon by faith on what God has told us that He has done in fact. We go into battle not from the perspective of our circumstances here on earth, but from our position above in Christ.
